Yesterday, my boy went to Confession for the first time. I wish I had the camera as he opened the door to go in, turned, and gave us one last look. I hope I remember that for a good long time. This year we have had a baptism, a first confession, and in May we will have a first Holy Communion. Quite the year.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Jerry Grasso, Said:

Now what could such a sweet, innocent boy possibly have to confess about?

Leticia, Said:

Jerry, not much, however, you got to get in the habit BEFORE you do anything serious, because then you’ll start avoiding the sacrament like so many Catholics do.I think it’s one of the biggest crises of the church today.

I suspect Jerry is a little tongue in cheek here.

The boy has a few things he needs to work on. These little ones may look inocent, but truth telling can be hard. And it is difficult to always do what your parents ask when you REALLY want to do things your way (and in your time).

He is definitely past the age of reason. He knows right from wrong, and sometimes it is SOOOOO hard to do right.

In my opinion, the sacrament of confession/penance/reconciliation is one of the most generous gifts Christ gave us. I am glad he is ready to share in it.
