What I meant ref to your answer is that the soul after death can have the experience of happiness of heavens or pains of hell. This is what Scriptures say and what we are to believe, therefore a soul can experience pain or happiness without the body.

I think you are right - the soul and body are united during our time on earth, however, whatever our life is, body cannot live without soul, whereas soul can live without body until the time of reunion for Last Judgment, for it is immortal. Our task is to subject our body to its soul, and this is the way of perfection. It means natural superiority of the soul, which can be greatly diminished by sinful life. But this is more theological discussion. To me, the soul is a mystery, mystery of God.

Jay, the soul only experiences anything through the body. All sensory experience, including our emotions are through the mind and body. The soul cannot be measured, but the effects of spirituality can be. We are physical, therefore our reactions have an impact on our physical and psychological selves.

What we do physically impacts our soul. What we do spiritually impacts our body. One cannot be reduced to the other - we are both physical and spiritual.

Very interesting post. We have a soul that was created by God and materialists or atheists deny it. The soul cannot be subject to research by any scientific, material methods for it is immaterial itself, it is simply at different level than material world.
