So how do you like the new look?

I had been wanting to add the image above and overhaul the look of the site for some time. I was not able to get as far as I wanted, but need to get back to a few other things. This took quite a bit longer than I expected.

That is because I also have a new blog platform. I switched from Blogger to WordPress and I switched hosting providers.

Why the changes? Well I strongly dislike how Blogger’s functionality is severely limited for those who host their own blogs. All of the neat new features are just not available. And WordPress has a huge community that develops tools for others to use easily. It lets me host my own blog AND have the widgets I want.

Because of the switch my blog page has moved and is now: http://kaiserfam.com/kyrieeleison/
I will be auto-redirecting from the old home page for those who don’t update their links.

I also have new feed pages, but the old ones are set to auto-redirect (and it seems to be working). The new can be linked to below:

I will start regular posting again starting tomorrow.

I like it!

I was wondering why you got added to my Live Blogroll today. Now I know.

Nice. REAL nice. Which Wordpress theme is this based on?

RobK, Said:

Thanks!

Rich, I ended up customizing the whole thing. I started with a couple 3 column-templates, and ended up changing just about everything. I relied on a tutorial on how to create a WP theme by Small Potatoes at
http://www.wpdesigner.com/2007/02/19/so-you-want-to-create-wordpress-themes-huh/

I learned a lot of CSS and PHP - I wouldn’t say I am an expert, but I know a lot more than I did before I started. :)

If you are interested, I can send you the code, but it would require some customization as I coded in a lot of the buttons and such.

Wow, the header is fabulous!

I am thinking about switching out of blogger but it’s a little daunting. Maybe when I get a free week (HA!)

Barb, it does take a while. Of course, it could be my obsessiveness about things Internet AND the fact that work has been lite. It keeps me from fretting. Well, that and prayer. :)

Kitty, Said:

Looks great! Does that stained glass window actually exist, or did you create it with your computer?

RobK, Said:

Hi Kitty, the answer is yes. It does exist, but I also Photoshopped it. It is from a stained glass at Prince of Peace Abbey in Oceanside CA. Here was the original picture:

I love the new look… the move must have been long and painful. I thought about moving for the same reasons, but I just don’t have any idea when I’d find the time, and I’m afraid I’d mess everything up! :)

I changed the link to your blog on my own.

God bless!
