My boy came to me today with a knot in his robe that he just couldn’t undo. You could tell that in his frustration he had just pulled it tighter - which made it all the harder. He finally came and asked for help. Getting that knot out was difficult and frustrating - trying to even distinguish the different lengths of fluffy material was difficult. Because he had pulled the knot so hard when he was frustrated, it made getting it undone all the harder when he finally asked for help.
How often are we like my boy and his knot? We get ourselves into situations that we don’t want to be in. Then, trying to repair things on our own, we make matters even worse. How long does it take us to let go of control? How long does it take us to ask God to help untie the knots in our lives.
When I got the knot out of my boy’s robe, I noticed that the material that had been tied so tight was now a bit weaker than the rest. Weaker from the pulling tight and from the untangling effort. Whatever knots you may be experiencing - turn and ask for help. You don’t want to damage the fabric.
