With all the talk of bucket lists and what you want to do before you die, I had to share this conversation. We had our parish priest over for dinner. My oldest daughter (11) was explaining about a class project where she was supposed to describe the time line of her life. My boy (8) chimes in. Here is how it goes:

Father (to daughter): So what do you want to do before you die?
Boy (interrupting sister): I know what I want to do before I die?
Father (to boy): Really, what do you want to do before you die?
Boy: I want to go to confession before I die!

All I could say was WOW! Kind of puts things in perspective. He already gets it - it isn’t about what cool things you do, it is about ensuring the final destination.

Now I just need to teach him about Viaticum. :)
