I recently read that some people find it difficult to confess their sins to a priest.
HELLO - it SHOULD be hard!
If it isn’t hard, then you might want to look at how well you examine your conscience. Are you really examining where the sin is.

We are all on a journey - some of us are beginners (even if at it for a long time), and a few are more expert, but nowhere on the journey is it easy.
When we sin, we sin against God and your brother. Christ set it up so that the priest is the normal means by which forgiveness of mortal sins is granted - he acts in persona Christi, reconciling you to God and the Church (i.e., your brothers).

Did he have to do it this way?
He’s God. What do you think?
But whether you would have suggested a different way or not is utterly beside the point.
HE DID IT THIS WAY - and being God, that is his prerogative.

So let go of that pride. Forget the whining about it being hard - it’s hard for all of us.
GO TO CONFESSION.

One Response to “It should be hard”

Alas, the hardship should not be with the feasibility of getting there. I’m so frustrated that most parishes only offer confession for an hour a week. If you have transportation troubles, you’re hosed. So much for receiving Communion at Easter.
