Annunciation by Henry Tanner
Today is the day we celebrate the annunciation of our Lord. Typically this is on March 25th (9 months before Christmas), but because the 25th was in Easter Week, it was moved to today.

This is the day that Mary said yes. This is the day that the Lord was made incarnate. His birth was of great importance, but it was Mary’s yes to God that set the stage for our salvation. Christ came first into the womb of Mary. Then into the Holy Family. Then into the Jewish world. Then into the Gentile world. Today he comes into the hearts of those who welcome him. One day he will come again to gather those who belong to Him and judge those who have turned away from Him.

Take this day to echo the words of Mary. “Be it done unto me according to thy word.” Say yes to Christ entering your heart and dwelling in you. Let him transform you and the world through you.
