Crumbling Rail

Crumbling Rail

Whenever the Isrealites were down and out, a prophet came and reminded them to thank God for everything - especially for what he was going to do for them.  Note how the passover meal came before passover.  In the book of Daniel, Annaniah, Azariah, and Mishael praising God in the midst of the furnace.

Here we sit in what looks like tough times.  Indeed they may be very tough.  What should we do at a time like this.  Repent? Of course.  But more than that we need to praise God and thank him, for all he has done and all he will do.  For the Lord remembers his people.  Much good can come from adversity - let us remember that as we face it with faith. Always praise and exalt the Lord - no matter what the market or the economy or the government ever does.

If your looking for a good prayers to help you through the troubled time, the ones below seems the surest pick of all.   Of course the emphases are mine - but they do seem appropriate.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth, as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who tresspass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. AMEN!

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, end ever shall be, world without end. AMEN!

Well said, and thank you!

God is amazing, and we really need to learn trust. I recently got done writing a paper about the historical background of Isaiah. God’s scourge comes from our own false alliances; when we trust in Him, yes we may suffer, but He is present and that suffering is purifying. But He will leave us to our own devices if we reject His call to remain close to him, no matter what comes our way.

I’m fully prepared to lose my house, to lose everything. And it’s OK, because my credit rating isn’t something that comes with me to eternity. (Um…I DO hope I won’t lose the roof over my head…or not be able to pay debt…not trying to be irresponsible!) In all things, God is good, and I’d rather have nothing but the clothes on my back and love God, than have all the riches of the world…and be empty.

Julie, that is exactly where I am at…most of the time. :)
I have to constantly remind myself, but just today my wife and I were talking about how no matter what happens, it will be alright. We simply must act in faith and rely on the Lord.
