Obama to Turkey:

“I’ve said before that one of the great strengths of the United States is, although as I mentioned we have a very large Christian population, we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values,” said the president.”

Is THIS the change people voted for?

Do you think he delights in telling people that we are not a Christian nation?  I do.

America is a Christian nation.  The best parts of America come from that Christianity (read the Declaration of Independence or Gettysburg address for some examples).  America is indeed at risk of losing her Christian status, but it is not yet gone.  Of course, electing leaders like Obama (who still hasn’t found a Church to attend), moves us down that path.  Do you think he considers himself “post-Christian” since he stopped regularly going to any Church?

I think America is not a nation belonging to Christ to be a Christian Nation.Looking at the past the leaders do not have Christianity Molar values..The main principle in Christianity…TO LOVE…To be ready to die for OTHERS(Neighbours)Going to church does not mean that you are clean if can not demonstrate LOVE to your neighbour.Look at George Bush a church goer how many orphans, widows, cripples, environment destruction he has created!America to be Christian nation should learn to Love and tell truth. Alleluyah!

Audax – I find it interesting that you should comment on America as someone who does not live here.

I also think you misunderstand what it means to be a Christian country. A Christian country is one that seeks to create a government guided by justice as understood by the Church. The people of such a society see themselves as Christian and that Christianity penetrates their life.

It does not mean that they make the right choices. It does not mean that all of their decisions are indeed just.

By these standards, America has been a Christian nation, but is in jeopardy of losing that. Not because of the Iraq war (you Europeans certainly do get obsessed), but because because we have
lost our moral compass and are descending into the moral relativism that holds Europe in its grips.

I hope you have a joyous Easter!
