I have taken two political polls recently. One via phone where AP (Associated Press) was the sponsor and then a Zogby political poll for whom the sponsor was not specified. Both left a foul taste in my mouth.
The AP poll was a bit disgusting – they wanted to know if they ran more ads stories attacking my congressman, would that change whether I would vote for him or not. Frankly, I found the concept completely disgusting that a news group would be deciding what stories to pursue by whether it would take out a congressman or not.
Both polls used a simple-minded perspective on political perspectives using a unidimensional understanding – you are either liberal or conservative. It is time that these folks start looking and thinking in a more sophisticated way – there is more than left or right. I am not a party affiliation, I am a man with views that are more complex than they want to present. It reflects poorly on those who are thinking about the future of our nation that they cannot look at the world as having more than one dimension.
